Collegize AI is collegize.ai, an admissions app for students and parents. The company describes it as a lower-cost stand-in for a private counselor: essay brainstorming, a college list, activities, and SAT, ACT, and AP practice in one place. LinkedIn lists a founding year of 2023. The homepage introduces a co-founder, Jason, and prints a trust line of more than 134,994 students and parents. That number is the company's own. It is not an audited enrollment figure.
What the product is for
- Build and balance a college list, including reach, target, and safety.
- Brainstorm essays and flag clichés before a student submits the Common App.
- Track activities, deadlines, recommendations, and campus visits.
- Practice for the SAT, ACT, and AP exams inside the same account.
- Estimate admission chances. The terms say this is not a guarantee.
The site also publishes free planning tools, such as a comparison view and a deadline calendar. The paid app is a subscription. Third-party writeups have quoted a monthly plan near $39, sometimes discounted, an annual plan, and a short trial of about three days. Those figures move. Open the pricing page on the day you cite them.
What the terms already say
You must be at least 13. Under 18, a parent or guardian has to consent. The student keeps ownership of essays and documents they upload, and grants Collegize a limited licence to process them for the service. The terms forbid plagiarized uploads and say the service is provided as is, with no promise of a specific admissions result. Colleague.ai, a tool aimed at teachers, is a different product. Do not mix the names in a brief.
How a family should use it
- Treat a chance score as a sanity check, not a prediction a counselor would sign.
- Have a teacher or parent read the essay the student will actually send. A model can sand off the sentence that made it theirs.
- Do not paste another student's essay in to "improve" it.
- Ask where uploaded transcripts are stored and whether they are used to train a model. Get that in the privacy policy, not in a chat reply.
Schools and counselors who publish advice still need their own pages: deadlines, fee waivers, what the essay should not do. Draft those in AI Writer and keep the claims in a Brand Kit so a later post does not invent an acceptance rate.
Frequently asked questions
Is Collegize free?
Some planning tools on the site are free. The counseling app is a paid subscription after whatever trial is offered that week. Read the current checkout before you tell a family the price.
Will Collegize get a student in?
No. The terms say it does not guarantee admission. An essay score is not a decision from a university.
The short version
Collegize organises the application and critiques the draft. A person still submits the file, and no app can promise the letter. For the pages a school or counselor publishes, try Content24 free.
