Spot AI: cameras that search, act, and document, and why it is not a home cam brand

Search Spot AI and you might expect a robot dog or a doorbell. Spot AI, Inc. is a San Francisco company that connects the IP cameras a business already has to an edge recorder and a cloud dashboard. The cameras stay. Full-resolution video stays on site. Metadata goes to the cloud. Agents watch the feeds, compare them to rules you set, and act: a talk-down, a strobe, an alert, a scorecard, a case file with timestamps.

It is not Boston Dynamics' Spot. It is not a home security gadget you mount over the porch. It sells through certified channel partners. Public materials in 2026 put the company at more than 1,200 customers and thousands of agents in the field, with funding past $110 million and a 2024 round led by Qualcomm Ventures.

What the product actually is

  • Your cameras. RTSP and ONVIF IP cameras, plus analog through the recorder. No rip-and-replace required.
  • Intelligent Video Recorder. Edge processing and local storage so the site still records if the WAN blinks.
  • Cloud dashboard. One wall for every location, search, share, live view.
  • Agents. Security deterrence, safety and SOP checks, operations on a production floor.
  • Iris. A conversational layer so you can ask the footage a question instead of scrubbing an hour of tape.

The company publishes SOC 2 Type II, NDAA compliance and HIPAA-aligned language. If you run healthcare or a US federal-adjacent site, still do your own review. Vendor pages are a starting point, not an audit.

Who should look at Spot AI

Operations and security leads with cameras already on the wall: warehouses, manufacturing, multi-site retail, parking lots, clinics that already record for safety. The promise is that the night shift gets a teammate that does not get tired, and that investigations drop from "find the clip" to "ask Iris." If you have no cameras, you are buying a camera project first. Spot AI will point you at hardware partners. That is a different budget conversation.

Who should not

  • A consumer looking for a baby monitor or a doorbell.
  • A marketing team that searched Spot AI hoping for an AI video editor. That job is AI Video, not a security recorder.
  • A founder who wanted a Boston Dynamics robot. Different Spot.

The marketing angle, such as it is

Video from a loading dock is not UGC. Do not drop operational footage into an ad without legal, union and privacy review. If you need campaign video, shoot it or generate it on purpose, with talent releases and a brand kit. Content24 is for that production work: AI Video, AI Avatar, AI Images. Spot AI is for the cameras that already watch the floor. Mixing the two is how you end up in a meeting with HR.

Frequently asked questions

Does Spot AI replace security guards?

It automates watching and first response on camera. Sites still need people for anything that is not in frame, and for decisions the agent should not make. Treat it as coverage, not a headcount fantasy.

Do I have to buy new cameras?

Usually no. Spot AI is camera-agnostic on purpose. New cameras are optional through partners if the existing set cannot see the corners that matter.

Is there a public price list?

Partner-sold systems like this rarely publish a clean SaaS grid. Expect a quote based on sites, cameras and which agents you turn on. Ask for all-in pricing: recorder, licences, storage, talk-down hardware.

The short version

Spot AI is workplace video intelligence on cameras you already own. It is not a home cam and not an ad editor. If you came here for marketing video, try Content24 free or read how to create engaging AI videos for marketing.
